Invitation to Killarney Classic 2007
We would like to invite you and your team to attend the KILLARNEY PARAGLIDING CLASSIC 2007 27th January to the 3rd February 2007 in Queensland Australia. This will be a great opportunity for you to get a feel for the Australian flying conditions as Killarney has a very similar weather pattern and conditions to Manilla NSW where you will be flying the World Championship.
Killarney is three hours drive inland from the Gold Coast and 2 ½ hours from Brisbane & 5 hours drive to Manilla. The take-off has been bought by Queensland Pilot Andrew Horchner, and Wendy Mugridge who will be hosting the event.
Killarney offers some of the best cross country flying in Queensland; it has five launch sites that cover most directions in a very close proximity of each other. In this area there are 1000’s of kilometers of wide open flatlands to the west with excellent road networks throughout the area. In the past people have accomplished rewarding flights, flying over and gazing down upon extinct volcanic plugs and the immense, picturesque flatlands of the Darling Downs. It is only 300 kms from Killarney to Mt. Bora Manilla to the south. It’s a must for your paragliding competition calendar.
The organization will be supplying Four Wheel Drive Bomb-out retrieves for the comp back to launch or back to serviceable roads. If you wish to supply your own retrieves from the Bomb Outs this is O.K but it would be wise to note that from the SE Bombout there maybe some water crossings depending on the previous weather but they will be well graded, therefore a Four Wheel Drive vehicle could be of a benefit to the team’s retrievals.
